Promoting Yourself

January 25, 2009

The tips below will mean the difference between your getting some work, and a lot of work.

ALWAYS REPLY TO ALL INITIAL EMAILS – even the ones that are probably from timewasters. (Though if you think they are wasting time, simply tell them to provide FULL details. If they are, they won’t).

* Get an Agent
o Contact us as we know the good UK agents.
* Contact Photographers Direct and ASK FOR WORK
o Lots of models simply wait for emails. You are in business – you need to promote yourself, at least until you have got enough contacts to provide good regular work.
o You can contact hundreds of photographers via this site. Develop a routine of emailing say 10 a day, every day, and when you’ve emailed everyone, just start again.
o I can do a bulk email to site members (over 1000 professional and amateur photographers). Contact me for info.
* Get a Showreel
o This is a video package that shows your personality and vitality. It’s not important for stills models, but if you want to do video work, TV work or presenting you should get one.
o We shoot these, and currently there’s no charge.
* Join ALL the Model Sites, Forums and Boards
o Each site tends to have it’s own group of photographers who like it, so by being on all of them, you can reach the right people. This site, for example, is very strong with professional and serious amateurs shooting adult at all levels.
* Reputation
o Reputation is everything. If you start pulling no shows word gets out and soon no one will book you.
o It is important to realise that NO ONE CARES why you were a no show because 95% of the time the excuse given is a lie, especially when the model is new or inexperienced. People see “no show” and understand “bottled out” or “flake”, depending on their mood.
* Make Your Own Content (for a Paysite in due course)
o Your own material, esp your early material, will be perfect of a paysite later in your career. Spend time making it, usually working with other models on a Content Share Basis.
o Paysites and content sales can provide very good income once you have a name, but a paysite will need to be treated as a business to work. (You can’t just build it and wait for the money to roll in. It needs marketing and promotion).

Showreels

Showreels

Showreels

These are a really good way of promoting yourself, esp for video work.

A typical showreel is 2-3 mins, not longer. We include them for free.

* New Models – should do something showing you in action. Shows producers you are serious.
* Established Models – a talk to camera is fine. (Everyone knows you are serious). Discuss your levels and maybe tell a little about what got you into the industry.
* Producers and others – a taste of your work.

If you have a Showreel

* Just email it to us – admin at adultindustryresources.com.
* Needs to be WMV or SWF format, max 20MB. (If bigger than 20MB use yousendit.com or put it ona site for me to download.)

If you don’t have one, but have bits of footage as WMV files

* Do a rough edit in Windows Movie Maker and when you get it down to about 5mins, send it over and I’ll tighten it up.

If you don’t have anything, we can shoot it for you, (England and Wales, Models only)

* We’ll come to you, do the shoot and do the edit. We’ll also shoot a load of stuff for your own use while we’re there, if you like. The showreel show only takes few minutes, so we have plenty of time.
* To cover our costs there will be a charge of £100. If 2-3 models join together for a showreel shoot, that can be split between you. If 4+ models, then the fee is waived.
* If you want a showreel, but want to reduce the costs, lets decide on a date and then it can be advertised to other models.

IDs and Model Releases

January 25, 2009

The following notes might help you avoid problems. It mainly applies to the UK, but no doubt will be more generally useful.

Age

* You must be 18+.
* If you are under 18 then trust me, you don’t want to work for anyone who will shoot you. They would be committing serious offences, and should be viewed as potentially dangerous. (If you know something that could send someone to prison for several years, you always have to worry what they might do).

Model Release

* If you sign a model release you are allowing the photographer to use the material in any way covered by the release. This will normally mean “however they want”.
* If you want to put conditions on any use of material, you must get that down in writing in the release.
o MYTH – no release means no publication. Under UK law ANY photograph belongs to the photographer and he can do what he likes with it
+ Paparazzi don’t get releases, but do get sales…
+ The legal purpose of the release is to provide evidence of explicit permission for publication. Most publishers will NOT take material that does not have a release. They don’t want the aggro.
+ However the photographer could self publish – on their website for example. Or if you became famous then the papers WILL risk publishing and say “see you in court”.
+ If you DO NOT want material to be published, get the photographer to sign a document of yours saying that “this material is NOT for publication.”
+ But that still isn’t good enough – he could share with others, who put on the Net etc, so the general rule is don’t do work that you wouldn’t want to be made public.

ID Requirements

* Most professional shoots will require 2 forms of ID, at least one of which is a photo ID. Passorts and Driving Licences are the main photo IDs.
* A photographer is quite within their rights to send you home without pay if you turn up without valid ID. If you do not have a Passport AND a photo Driving Licence you should advise them when the booking is made – maybe you have other suitable IDs.

STD Certificates (often just called certs)

* Needed for all GG and BG hardcore shoots.
* Should be less than 30 days old.
* All STD Clinics will do tets, but not all supply certs – so ask first.
* Certs normally cost £30-£60 on the NHS.

Main Levels and Terms

January 25, 2009

* Art Nude – naked but not showing any bits, or if showing, it’s natural, no emphasis on them. For example a full frontal body painted nude will show everything, but that is incidental to the image as a whole.
* Arty/soft Fetish/BDSM – this covers a range of material, but the emphasis is on getting the right image.
* Magazine – covers a range of work but typically includes open leg, and may or may not include pink (held open).
* Insertions – using fingers/toys
* Fisting – make sure you are built for this before you agree to it.
* GG Soft – nothing is done for real.
* GG Hard – real GG sex.
* BG Soft – nothing is for real. (However a lot of Uk mainstream softcore porn is actually filmed in hardcore, but with the action hidden by hair/editing/camera angles. Makes sure that when they say SOFT they mean that the action on set is SOFT).
* BG Hard – real sex.
* Anal – don’t do this for the first time on set. Find someone who can introduce you to it. Make sure you know how to prepare.
* DP – Double Penetration – one guy in each hole.
* Spanking/CP – CP – corporal punishment. These shoots range from tame, all acting, to serious beating that bruise, (and prevent you working for a few days to a week). Be clear what is involved before agreeing.
* Bukkake – loads of guys wank over you.
* Gang Bang – loads of guys (typically 4-8).
* Watersports – pissing. Ask what exactly is involved. Can be just you pissing, can be drinking….
* Gonzo (POV – Point Of View) – performing with the photographer/producer.
* Protected – condoms to be used for penetration.
* Certificated – performers will have current HIV/STD certs. This normally means that it will be no more than 30 days since your tests.

Pornography and sex laws in Scandinavian countries.

January 11, 2009

To make things more clear I will post links regards some issues regarding the legality or illegality of sex! Porn why it’s legal to produce and by and legal to sell sex but not to buy!

First things first we will deal with the prostitution bit.

Prostitution is the act of performing sexual activity in exchange for money or goods. The legal status of prostitution varies greatly between different jurisdictions, from being punishable by death to being completely legal.

In Sweden it is legal to sell sex but not to buy sex. Pimping is also illegal. Prostitutes are generally viewed by the government as oppressed, while their clients are viewed as oppressors.[citation needed] Norway has the same laws as Sweden.

Lets explore the pornographic side of legality or illegality of porn in Sweden. For me the Swedish person porn is legal to wiew without any censorship except childpornography. Regards to having “tidelag” having sex with an animal was previously banned/illegal but not now.

Producing porn no matter if it’s a picture or a video loop on INTERNET or DVD is legal but a Grey area.  Due to the fact that Sweden have criminalize the act of buying sex this can be a problem especially  if you take count of trafficing situation worldwide. The producer, film maker, male or female counterpart in the filmed sex act. Can be accused of a criminal act off course that has not happened yet wich is the reason for Grey area.

let’s read what Wikipedia say’s and we can make an opinion regards porn and producing, or acting in porn.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_pornography_laws_by_country#Sweden

Sweden

No age limits at all. Some shops follow a voluntary 18 year limit. Illegal for persons below 18 to act in films or pose for photography made in Sweden. Video and stills are illegal if actor is below 18 even if legal in originating country. Material that may involve animals is de facto legal; however, it is subject to animal-welfare laws. BDSM is classified as “illegal depiction of violence,” but the law is rarely used to ban any such material.

other Scandinavian countries.

Norway

Hardcore material was for a long time illegal de jure, but legal in practice, that is, illegal to produce, distribute and sell, but legal to possess. One could e.g. acquire it abroad, on the internet, or via satellite TV. There were also some illegal porn shops, especially in the larger cities. To satisfy legal requirements, editors of erotic magazines, domestic TV channels and cable TV obscured sexual organs in activity using black rectangles etc. After the Supreme Court on 7 December 2005 unanimously acquitted a former magazine editor for publishing unobscured hardcore pornography in 2002, however, it is understood that printed hardcore pornography is no longer illegal, and pornographic magazines and movies were introduced in general stores from 2006. Public TV as well as cable TV seems to stay with the old rules, and is not yet clear if the Supreme Court decision will affect TV. (NB: The depiction of illegal sexual activities, such as those involving children, animals, necrophilia, rape, violence or the use of force, remains illegal.) [8][9][10]

Denmark

Ban on pornographic literature was lifted in 1967. In 1969 Denmark was the first country in the world to legalize pornography.

Child pornography is illegal.[2] It is illegal to distribute image or video pornography with persons under the age of 18. Though the age of consent is lower at 15. It is, however, not illegal to possess images or videos of people above 15 if the person filmed or photographed has given consent.

People in Denmark have free access to pornography; it is sold in most convenience stores, and is available for purchase or rental in practically every video store, including Blockbuster. There are a few regulations, such as being placed out of the eyesight of children. Pornography may not be sold to persons under the age of 15. The TV-channel Kanal København broadcasts hardcore pornography free and uncoded at night.

There are no specific restrictions against animal pornography, this is regulated by animal cruelty laws. If no harm or pain has been inflicted on the animal, or otherwise caused it harm, no legal action can be taken. This lack of legislation has allegedly made Denmark a center for the production of animal pornography, however this was dismissed as a myth by Det Dyreetiske Råd (a legal council), which in November 2006 published an extensive report on the topic of animal sex.

Finland

Child, violent and bestiality pornography is banned[3]. It is allowed to sell pornography in every store, but magazines to buyers of 15 years or older and hardcore to buyers of 18 years or older.

Before 1 January 1999, all indecent publishing, import and export were banned

If any reader want’s challange the information or come up with ideas regards loopholes around these laws. Please feel free to share them.

2.7.3 Pornography

[ Lennart Regebro writes: ]
Norway and Iceland don’t allow pornography, but through the years the
definition of what is pornography has got more liberal.

Sweden has one of the world’s best protections for Freedom of Speech,
which made it hard to outlaw pornography. Thus, Sweden got its
reputation of being the land of free sex, because in Sweden you could
actually make porn magazines.

Some time during the sixties, Denmark removed its laws prohibiting
pornography, and became a mecca for Nordic porn. It still is in many
senses. For example, the view on “unusual” sex seems much more relaxed
in Denmark. Sado-Masochism seems pretty accepted, for example, while it
in Sweden seems to be taboo. There is even a law against distrubuting
“violence-sex”, something that seems to be aimed against
sado-masochistic pornography.

Sweden (just like Denmark) doesn’t allow distribution of
child-pornography. Although you legally can own it, the police can
take it, if it is evidence for child-misuse. Owning it is not an
offense, although the law in Sweden is proposed to change on that
point. [ someone else: ]
Finland has its own major contribution to the porn industry in the
famous (and newly deceased) artist Touko Laaksonen (alias: Tom of
Finland), who from the 1940s and forward published a lot of often
overt erotic drawings of Nordic males as forest workers, bikers,
firemen and policemen with pretty faces, huge dicks, and a shameless
amount of appetite for each other.

Sex in Sweden, do’s and dont’s

January 11, 2009

The anguish off sex and paying for it in various shapes and forms.

Is porn sex? Yes!

Do u pay for it, both producer and buyer? Yes!

Is it legal to buy sex? Yes and no! ???

(in Sweden porn is legal to buy and view incl the manufacturing side of  such sex material, so far at least. It’s considered a Grey area. explanations will come we hope?

Is it illegal? Yes and no! ???

(it’s illegal to buy sex acts from both female and males escorts or prostitutes. Punishable by fine or prison time. porn can fit in this category Grey area).

Is escorts, prostiutes much  like other female or male models who get paid cash money to apear in sexual acts on photo or film to regard as criminal offenses?

How to deal with these problems?
